Whether it’s wood or steel, nothing stands out like a wonky fence. To avoid the leaning tower of Colorbond in your yard, it’s important you get your fence installed by a qualified professional.

The average Australian fence is usually a choice between two: the traditional wooden fence, and the Steel COLORBOND® fence. Both have their own unique benefits but both require a skilled tradesman to ensure they are installed correctly and securely.

Wood Fencing Q & A

What is pressure-treated wood?
Pressure-treated wood is wood that has been treated with a preservative to protect it from being destroyed by insects, fungus or exposure to moisture.
What kind of care and maintenance do wood fences require?
Wood fences are relatively low maintenance, however we do recommend you apply paint or stain to the fence every two years or as needed.
Should I paint or stain my fence?
We recommend applying a protective finish to the fence once it is installed. This helps to minimize the effects of weathering and to maximize the lifespan of your fence.
Will my wood fence crack or shrink?
The wood boards we use to build your fence still contain some moisture from when it was processed at the saw mill. Moisture keeps the wood from cracking or shrinking. After installation, your wood fence will shrink a little as the wood dries out in the sun. This is normal and part of the natural aging process wood experiences when exposed to the elements. Painting or staining your fence within 1 week of installation should minimize this process.
How long will my wood fence or deck last?
This varies on exposure to the elements and how well you maintain them. We recommend water-seal for all our wood products.

Steel Fencing

Popular throughout Australia, COLORBOND® steel fences offer the perfect alternative to traditional wooden fences.

Available in a variety of colours, COLORBOND® steel fences not only look great, but are built to last.
